As Director of Economic Development, Derrick Bennett oversees maintaining and promoting economic growth for the local community. Derrick is a Northampton County native with strong roots in the local community and is recognized as an emerging leader dedicated to fostering innovative, sustainable, and equitable prosperity. With an undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master of Business Administration from East Carolina University, and several licenses and certifications, his unique and diversified background sets him apart, bringing a holistic approach. His innovative businesses practices across many sectors, including financial risk management, corporate banking, and site development, serve as the foundation for his economic development strategic plan. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, farming and gardening, and traveling abroad. Derrick believes building a cohesive dedicated team is the forefront to achieving impactful success stories.
